Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: Grabs Your Heart and Never Let’s Go! This book provides an authentic, heart-wrenchingly real picture of the terrible toll an eating disorder takes on the sufferer and their family. The ignorance in the medical and insurance communities is keenly apparent and the need for more and better education to help both children AND adults suffering with such a pervasive and lethal mental illness. Linda and Jack are out to change the world of eating disorders and this book is a magnificent first step!

Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: Bringing Attention To Adult Eating Disorders & Loss This book illuminates the tremendous challenges faced when trying to access treatment for an adult with an eating disorder and co-occurring issues. While based in the U.S., common themes of stigma, shame, lack of treatment access, and cost are relatable. Linda and Jack heartbreakingly share the enormous impact on their family only to be left with little support after losing their daughter. If you have lost someone to an eating disorder, while painful, this book will validate your experience and remind you, you are absolutely not alone. For the medical, therapeutic, research professionals, this is a must-read.

Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: This story grabbed my heart The story of Emilee needed to be told and must be read. Mental health, anorexia, and substance use are so poorly understood. This personal, tender story of dear Emilee makes the constant ups and downs of supporting a child through a journey of struggle very real. Thank you to the authors for sharing this poignant story with the world - it's important!

Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: Incredible After reading the book on Kindle, I decided to order the audible version to hear the story narrated by Linda and Jack. Just as I read the book front to cover without putting it down, I listened to the entire audio book in a day. The love and support warmed my heart; the Mazur family endured so much but never gave up on their daughter. Publishing this book and telling Emilee's story is the ultimate act of courage and advocacy. As someone who has had a very similar journey to Emilee, my heart ached for her struggle. Several times I found myself in tears in relation to both her struggle and hearing things from the perspective of her parents. This book has the power to change many lives; it not only provides a sense of connection for people who suffer from eating disorders and the families/loved ones who walk the journey alongside of them, but also, has the potential to impact a future generation of medical providers whose words and actions play a pivotal role. There are not enough positive words to describe this book- both in terms of content and impact.

Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: Heartfelt and sincere The Mazurs’ dedication to their daughter, who suffered from Anorexia Nervosa, is so deeply touching and heartfelt. Their testimonies of the numerous hospitalizations that Emilee underwent and constant inhibitions on behalf of insurance companies reveal how defective and even damaging the healthcare system can be for individuals with AN and other psychiatric disorders. Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: An important glimpse into this devastating illness. In their memoir about their daughter Emilee’s struggle with severe and enduring anorexia nervosa, Linda and Jack Mazur have contributed an indispensable account of the devastation and helplessness sufferers and their families face in the wake of this terrible illness. There aren’t many books that specifically address severe and enduring anorexia and specifically what in the book Emilee’s doctor called “recalcitrant” anorexia nervosa. It’s an important conversation we need to be having about lack of access to proper care, but also about the *inefficacy* of the kinds of treatment we have available for so many, especially in the cases of individuals who have suffered for a longer period of time. My heart broke for Emilee and her family as I read, and the love the Mazurs have for their daughter shone brightly in every sentence, every word. This is an important book, and I hope that treatment providers in particular will read it.

Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: A true look into the severity of an eating disorder As someone who has long struggled with Anorexia Nervosa, I couldn’t help but relate to Emilee’s battle with this horrible disease. Eating disorders are like Boa Constrictors: they squeeze the life out of you slowly and painfully, trapping you in its grasp the entire time and never letting you go. I felt Linda and John’s pain with every page I flipped through and it gave me the extra motivation I need to push me through the recovery process because I know my parents are hurting watching my struggles. The Mazur’s paint a grim but unfortunately accurate picture of the healthcare system that routinely fails the mental health community. I found myself getting frustrated on behalf of the Mazur’s as the system constantly toyed with their emotions and failed to provide Emilee with the proper support that she deserved and should have received. I’d recommend this book for any family dealing with this disease, as it provides great insight into all the trials and tribulations that come from battling an eating disorder.

Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: amazing, heartbreaking read This family’s story had me gripped from the beginning. The love they have for each other is so heart warming that reading the loss and trauma they endure is truly heartbreaking. Found myself in tears multiple times throughout the book but would read it all over again. Brings a HUGE awareness and better understanding of what an eating disorder is like from the families point of view which is often never brought into the light.
